About the International Single Window Conference
The International Single Window Conference is an exchange forum around on the Single Window concept. It aims to bring together the different regions of the world, with contributions from countries with experience in the field, countries wishing to set up their own Single Window project, organizations supporting the implementation of Single Windows and international experts.
History
The international conference is an African initiative. It is held once a year and can be organized in any country of the world. The first edition was organized in Dakar, on 05, 06, 07 November 2008, by GAINDE 2000 with the support of the Government of Senegal and Senegalese Customs.The 5th edition was held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, from 5 to 7 September 2016 at the Palace of Congresses in Marrakech, under the theme: "Virtual Single Window of Foreign Trade: the requirement of an inclusive collaboration. This place of exchange allowed, through 15 plenary sessions and 9 workshops, to share experiences, to highlight the latest trends in electronic services aimed at simplifying and dematerializing the procedures of international trade, to improve the competitiveness of the economy and businesses, and to push all stakeholders to adhere to a comprehensive, participatory and inclusive approach. The last edition was held from 17 to 19 September 2019, in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Objectives of the International Single Window Conference
- Sharing the concept of Single Window;
- Raise awareness on the implementation of Single Windows worldwide;
- Raise awareness on the contribution of Single Windows to improve the competitiveness of companies and the business climate;
- Inform on the progress made in other parts of the world (Asia, Africa);
- Encourage the establishment of regional Single Windows in the African context;
- Disseminate information and experiences worldwide;
- Raise awareness of the international standards that underpin Single Windows and cross-border data exchange.
